  • Join us for our Annual General Meeting

    Date/Time: Thur 14 May 7PM
    Location: Zambri's Restaurant

  • Announcement: The Fletcher's Challenge Run/Walk

    Date: Good Friday, April 10th
    Time: 10:00am
    Location: Westwood Lake Nanaimo
    Cost: $20.00

    The first trail race of the 2009 Island race season. Good tune up for the GutBuster Series. Lots of fast flowing single track, new route this year. Proceeds go Runners of Compassion shoes for youth program.

  • Tibet Flag Run 2009 Pictures

    The Tibet Flag Run was a great success this year. Thank-you runners: Suzanne, Dela, Torbin, Tricia, Pat, Jeff (long running RofC vet), Tim and his two very sweet girls (full list to follow). Also thank-you to supporters Janice (RofC Treasurer) and Briony and Evelyn.

    We ran down the slope of the Beacon Hill Park hill, along Dallas Road bluff trail (stopping for a very windy photo opp by the dog walking area, and then along to Mile Zero where we met Judy and Sering. After a short wait, the Vancouver and Duncan Tibetan contingents arrived and the blessing and flag passing ceremony went on.

  • RofC Meeting - Monday 23 Feb 2009

    We had our monthly catch-up/planning meeting last night. Here's some high-lights.
    Donation
    - Thanks so much to Elanor Liddy for your donation! Elanor donated to RofC in lieu of giving RofC board member Pauline Styles a birthday gift.
    Correspondence
    - Victoria Cool Aid Society sent a thank-you note for "your continuing support for the women staying at Sandy Merriman House".
    News
    - Cool Aid Society, Victoria Foundation and Frontrunners are starting a running program for the shelter called: "Every Step Counts". About a dozen runners came out for the first run a few weeks ago.
    Up-coming Events
    - Tibetan Flag Run - Charles to make a small brochure... Saturday 7 March 2009, new course from Beacon Hill Park through James Bay to Chinatown and then Centennial Square - to hand the flags over to the Peace Walk folk.

  • Join Us for the Running of the Tibetan Flag Run 2009

    START: Saturday 7th March 2009 - 10:30AM Beacon Hill Peak Parking Lot (by the Canada flag)

    Celebrate and support the 50th Anniversary of the Tibetan Uprising.
    We'll have a new course, perhaps from Beacon Hill Park around the waterfront and through Downtown/Chinatown.

  • Avaaz! (Voice!)

    Runners of Compassion is pleased to be able to support the ninth annual Change Conference hosted by Glenlyon Norfolk School, February 20-21, 2009. Youth from throughout Southern Vancouver Island will convene for two days of entertainment, fantastic guest speakers and workshops, some great discussions, awesome food and a lot of change.

  • 2009 Board Kick-off Meeting

    We met at Spinnakers (Upstairs) at 6:30 PM on Monday 12 January 2009. We discussed 4 applications for funding and approved disbursements of $1500. We discussed the 2009 Events we sponsor or support, and made a plan to have a pot-luck meeting in February at Pauline's. More info on the potluck and pre-meeting run coming soon!

    Monday Sept 8th - 6pm until Rob kicks out out. Pot-luck as usual. Bring friends.
